Salt Therapy for Croup

What is croup ?

Croup is a respiratory disease or rather a respiratory infection. It is also known as laryngotracheobronchitis . Croup is basically inflammation of the larynx and trachea mostly occurring in children. In this the respiratory track gets swells which creates problem in breathing the most common cause of croup is viral infection and viruses. It is a respiratory condition which is caused by an acute infection of the upper airway. In this inflammation of respiratory track the normal breathing is disturbed and causes symptoms like ‘barking’ cough, hoarseness and strider. The symptoms of croup are noisy breathing (a high pitched sound), hoarse voice, and difficulty in breathing, sudden increase in production of mucus/phlegm. Although croup is mostly common in children and affects children between age group of 3 months to 5 years, it can happen to all age groups and can have different varied causes.

Effect of croup on kids, adults and seniors

Croup is a respiratory based disease which mostly affects the children. Although it can be cured within 4 to 5 days, it can have effect on the immune system of the child. The age group from 3 months to 6 year, there is higher tendency of getting affected by croup. The age of 24 months is considered to be most critical as many cases are studied during this very age period. As the disease is a viral kind, the whole respiratory system gets affected and hence leads to a very typical barking noise during breathing and coughing.  Up to 80% of cases of croup are due to prainfluenze viruses 1, 2 and 3. The children can get this virus by breathing infected respiratory droplets sneezed or coughed in the air. Croup is most number of times seen in small children and very few cases are seen in teenagers, adults and seniors.

Salt room therapy for croup at Spiro Care

Salt room therapy, which is also known as halo therapy , by its name itself cures respiratory diseases such as croup, chronic cough, asthma, and many other diseases by help of very tiny salt particles entering our respiratory system . It is a non surgical process which helps cure the symptoms associated with croup in a complete natural way to its root. In the salt room, patients are exposed to very tiny particles of salt which enter the respiratory system helping to cleanse and detoxify it. This happens just by normal daily breathing. Salt is used in this therapy for its high tendency to absorb; it is a natural antibacterial, anti histamine and also an anti inflammatory substance. The tiny salt particles entering the respiratory system break up the solid mucus particles and hence improve the breathing. Being an antibacterial itself they kill the germs and bacteria which cause the production of mucus and inflammation. As there is least use of medication involved in salt room therapy, the immune system is automatically improved gradually with the therapy.

The salt particles contains negative ion which have healing properties.  Research has been carried out on medical benefits of negative ion since early 1900’s.  negative ion , present in the salt have the tendency of significantly decreasing airborne diseases , cleaning air of dust , mould spores , pollen  which help in killing bacteria and viruses .

The salt rooms are provided with comfortable seating’s and massage chairs where all children adult and seniors can enjoy their therapy session with great comfort. As the surrounding is flooded with salt particles one feels like entering a salt cave .In spite of the room being covered with salt, it is already sterile, the chamber is frequently exhausted after every sessions to avoid any kind of infection from the previous patients. Salt therapy is now considered as a very effective and natural way of cleansing one’s body and immune system without any complications and sideffects. In addition, this could prevent the side effects of strong medicines.
